Firefox: Isolate Facebook from your other web activity

Due to the Facebook data scanalds, it’s a good choice at the moment to isolate Facebook activities from your other web activites, to prevent Facebook from tracking your activities.

If you are using Mozilla Firefox, there is a great extension available, that isolates Facebook to it’s own container. This makes it harder for Facebook to track your activity on other websites via third-party cookies.

Facebook Container from Mozilla

After you install the extension, it will delete all of your Facebook cookies and log you out of Facebook. At the next time you visit Facebook, it will open in a new blue-colored browser tab. In this tab you can login into Facebook again and use it like you normally would.

If you click on a non-Facebook link, or navigate to a non-Facebook website in the URL bar, these pages will load outside of the container.

Should you click on any Facebook Share buttons on other browser tabs, it will load them within the Facebook container. You should know that when you’re using these buttons. Information will be sent to Facebook about the website that you shared from.
